Planning your Dissertation

Planning your Dissertation In-Person

A Dissertation (or independent study) is a large research project undertaken at the end of a degree. It involves in-depth consideration of a problem or question chosen by the student. It is usually the largest piece of written work produced during a degree. This workshop looks at breaking down some of the barriers students may face before embarking their project. The workshop helps to answer questions and topics such as:

What does a dissertation look like?

How to find a topic and create a research question

How to read widely to understand the main concepts and arguments which will feature in your work

How to devise your methodology

What is a dissertation supervisor and what do they do?

How to plan your dissertation schedule
